At Thompson Rivers University, student success is their priority. For 45 years TRU has taken pride in providing an excellent education to every student that comes to them—from a wide variety of backgrounds and perspectives, at various stages of the learning journey. Nearly 26,000 students study on campuses in Kamloops and Williams Lake, or in distance or online courses and programs through Open Learning. From traditional academics to trades, from certificates to graduate degrees, TRU offers over 140 on-campus programs and 60 Open Learning programs to choose from. Their students apply what they learn in co-op work terms, study abroad, undergraduate research, field schools and practicums, service learning and other opportunities — with guidance and mentorship by our accessible faculty. - Opportunities: The choices here are limitless. There is a law school, a business school and a nursing school. TRU has options in trades, technology and engineering. They can prepare students for medical school. They offer theatre, visual arts, journalism and liberal arts. They can teach students how to be a chef, or operate a ski hill, or become a social worker, or a teacher. If students aren’t sure where to begin, there are plenty of support resources to get them started. Between program advisors, counsellors, future students team and student awards and financial support, if students have questions, TRU has got them covered. Accommodation
Students need to plan their accommodations well in advance of their arrival as all accommodation options fill up quickly, well before the start of the semester.
On-Campus Residence Accommodations
On-Campus residence accommodations are provided per discretion by the school.
Off-Campus Accommodations
The local area has a variety of off-campus rental housing options including single homes, duplexes, apartments and rooms for rent. Students wishing to live off-campus need to research availability on their own and should arrive well before the start of term to do so.
Homestay
There are a wide variety of homestay options available, and our partners do their best to match students and hosts according to their interests and preferences. Homestay hosts include single people, young couples with children and pets, and older couples. All homestay accommodations have been inspected, and all adults in the home have completed a required criminal reference check.

Admission requirements vary, but all TRU programs require secondary school completion for academic admission.
