Program Summary

The applied biotechnology major at Auburn is an interdisciplinary program that brings together the multidisciplinary expertise of faculty from various departments within the College of Agriculture. This major will prepare students to meet the needs of today’s rapidly growing biotechnology and biomedical industries, equipping them with the specialized knowledge, skills and techniques this exciting field demands.

As a biotechnologist, students will be trained to apply advanced science and engineering to some of the world’s leading issues through alternative energy sources, safer plant- and animal-based products, management of crop damage, reduced production costs and more.

If graduate school is in students future, the major in applied biotechnology will prepare them for advanced studies in fields such as biology, agriculture, biomedical sciences, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sciences.
