Program Summary
The MS in Applied Mathematics program equips students with both fundamental and advanced skills in applied mathematics, tailored to support their individual career aspirations. This program prepares students for diverse professional paths, including roles in industries where analytical expertise is highly valued, further academic pursuits in a doctoral program, or enhanced competencies for secondary school educators looking to expand their expertise in this dynamic field.
Designed primarily to prepare students for careers in industry, the program also provides flexibility for those interested in doctoral studies or teaching at the secondary level. It is the only graduate program in Applied Mathematics in New Jersey that offers three distinct culminating experiences: an internship, a capstone project, or a thesis. The internship option allows students to gain hands-on experience by working directly with an employer on real-world mathematical applications.
In addition to coursework, students must complete one of the three culminating experiences, which provide valuable research exposure and strengthen their ability to communicate findings through written reports and oral presentations. These experiences serve as a crucial foundation for both professional success and further academic endeavors.
