Architecture

4-Year Bachelor's Degree

Program Summary

As an architecture major, you’ll gain hands-on experience through designing, building, and problem-solving. This program encourages you to think critically and creatively, preparing you to become a "citizen architect" who tackles real-world challenges. Can buildings generate their own energy instead of consuming it? How does architecture intersect with social and racial dynamics? Can robotics revolutionize construction safety? Explore these questions and more as you shape the future of the built environment. The architecture program blends creative exploration with technical training, giving you a well-rounded education rooted in design, history, and construction. You'll take courses that connect architecture with the arts, sciences, and humanities while gaining hands-on experience in our fabrication workshops. From working with wood and steel to studying sustainable design in UB’s zero-energy GRoW Home, you'll engage with real-world challenges. But the heart of the program is the design studio, where you'll learn by doing—refining your ideas, experimenting with materials, and even building full-scale projects starting in your first year.
