Program Description

The AAS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography prepares students for dynamic and rewarding careers in the rapidly growing field of diagnostic medical sonography. Sonographers work with highly sophisticated ultrasound technology to create detailed internal images of the human body and assist physicians throughout various medical specialties in making diagnoses.

The program will provide students with knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology and the different sonography specialties, as well as the opportunity to train directly with health professionals. Students will understand the ethical, legal and regulatory standards of diagnostic medical sonography, and will be able to expertly and safely employ and interpret sonographic imaging to assist in diagnosis. Students will also learn to effectively communicate with patients, colleagues and healthcare professionals and have the option to sit for the national certification examination.
