Program Description

An AAS degree in Medical Assisting will teach students how to coordinate patient care, be effective team members in healthcare delivery, and develop skills for a range of clinical and administrative tasks. Medical assistants perform a variety of patient care activities under the supervision of a physician in settings such as a physician's private or group practice, acute care hospitals, ambulatory care centres, long-term care facilities, and rehabilitation facilities. Responsibilities may include preparing treatment rooms for patient examination, interviewing patients, recording patient vital signs, scheduling patient appointments, and sterilizing and positioning instruments. Additionally, medical assistants may have billing responsibilities. Medical assistants continue to be in large demand.
