4-Year Bachelor's Degree

Program Summary

Program Description

The Sociology and Communication, Media and Film combined program is offered jointly through the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminology and the Department of Communication, Media and Film. This joint program allows students to learn about and explore topics from both areas.

Sociology is the study of societies, social life, and social change. It investigates social, cultural and demographic issues in Canada and around the world. Topics covered include: sexuality, popular culture, inequality, migration, race, ethnicity, class, gender, values, health, family dynamics, law, social movements, institutions, and community.

By combining this with Communication, Media and Film, students will be at the centre of exploring the most dynamic changes in The University of Windsor's increasingly complex media landscape as well as the broader cultural, social, economic and political implications of contemporary and emergent technologies. The University of Windsor's program blends theory and practice, and teaches students the skills necessary to interpret and critically engage a media-saturated world.
