Program Description

The Visual Arts and Music combined program is offered as a double major program through the School of Creative Arts. This joint program allows students to learn about and explore topics and ideas from both areas. Students, as developing artists, will benefit from excellent working space in the stunning new facility, an invaluable foundation of skills, supportive faculty and the opportunity to explore, share and realize individual creativity and expression.

For students who are passionate about making music is the place to be. The faculty will help students develop to their full potential, whatever their musical interests. The programs provide excellent preparation for careers and graduate studies in performance, music theory or music history and a range of careers in areas related to music. And University of Windsor's exceptional, new facility will inspire students.

The Visual Arts program offers in-depth studio practices and art history combined with exhibition opportunities and exposure to the cultural institutions of Windsor and Detroit. The University of Windsor's program includes courses in drawing, painting, print media, photography, sculpture, BioArt, film production and integrated media (digital imaging, sound and video). Individual studio space is available during Year 4.

The BA in Music is designed for those captivated by music and its role in social and cultural life. This is a flexible program that will allow students to pursue the rigorous, academic study of a wide variety of musical genres with the option of including a hands-on studio experience with classical or contemporary music.

This also includes classes for students who wish to pursue advanced, contemporary music making, including popular and electronic music and music technology. students can develop composition and performance skills that reflect the diversity and richness of these practices, challenge themselves to be a creative and reflective musician, and prepare themselves for a career in the rapidly evolving music industry.
