Bachelor of Engineering - Process Engineering (Co-op)

4-Year Bachelor's Degree

Program Summary

Program Description

Process engineering is a diversified discipline designed to satisfy the needs of various processing industries including oil and gas and mineral processing. It encompasses new development, design, optimization and operation of sustainable processes for human needs, ensuring safety and protection of the environment. Process engineers process substances through biological, chemical and physical processes to produce useful products such as petrochemicals, gasoline, food, pharmaceuticals, metals and alloys.

Memorial’s process engineering program is unique in that it is the first of its kind in Canada with a mandatory co-op program, which provides students with opportunities to work in a range of industries from oil production to cheese processing. Students will also learn in state-of-the-art laboratories and participate in unique research projects that are changing the future of engineering.

Memorial's courses and research emphasize environmentally conscious engineering: the importance of development while conserving resources for generations to come. Students will study safe, sustainable development and learn about the important role in resource lifecycles.

Note: All students in the Bachelor of Engineering program complete a common first year of study, after which they apply to their preferred major (Civil, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Ocean and Naval Architectural, or Process) beginning in the second year.
