Bachelor of Fine Arts - Art - Printmaking

4-Year Bachelor's Degree

Program Summary

The BFA in Art with a concentration in Printmaking develops students' skills in technical processes, conceptual development and creative problem solving to address the important questions in creative, social and community practices. The printmaking area emphasizes a foundational understanding of the many printmaking media in both traditional and contemporary formats while fostering experimentation and the development of unique approaches. Collaboration and transdisciplinary approaches are encouraged; students often work with other areas such as photography, intermedia and social arts practice, textiles, painting and drawing, and sculpture.

Program faculty teach in well-equipped studios for intaglio, lithography, relief and book arts, letterpress, screen printing and papermaking, and a digital lab. The program also offers specialties such as traditional dust grain copper photogravure, letterpress and papermaking classes.

Students declare their Bachelor of Fine Arts concentration at the time of ASU admission. Following admission, if students wish to change their concentration, they may meet with their School of Art academic advisor.
