Program Summary
Food plays a vital role in the health and sustainability of our communities. As we face growing global challenges, innovative methods in food production, processing, and dietary habits are becoming increasingly important. Australia’s food and beverage sector is a booming industry, exporting around $40 billion annually, and there is a strong need for skilled professionals in food and nutrition science to address current and future demands.
The Bachelor of Food and Nutrition Science program equips students with the expertise to make meaningful contributions in this field. You'll explore crucial topics like global food security and public health, gaining insights into the entire food journey—from farm to table. The program includes 120 hours of industry placement, giving you practical experience in real-world food, health, or nutrition environments. You’ll develop abilities in food formulation, production, packaging, and marketing, as well as learn to create food solutions that address diet-related health problems. Laboratory work will allow you to examine food chemistry and test new flavor profiles, while also focusing on the development of nutritious, safe, and sustainable food systems.
Graduates can pursue diverse roles, including working on public health campaigns, shaping food and nutrition policy, enhancing plant-based nutrition through microbiology, or managing food safety and waste. This degree also offers eligibility for registration as an associate nutritionist and can serve as a stepping stone into further study in dietetics.
