Bachelor of Science - Actuarial Science

4-Year Bachelor's Degree

Program Summary

The Bachelor of Science - Actuarial Science program is STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math)-designated by the Department of Homeland Security.

Unlike many fields that require advanced degrees for success, the program prepares students with the necessary mathematical background needed to competitively pursue well-paid and in-demand careers - for example, as actuaries and financial analysts.  Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the program, they will acquire the skills in mathematics, statistics, and business that are needed to quantify risk for companies and government agencies across the globe. Additionally, the curriculum is tailored to prepare them interested in pursuing graduate study in various fields such as actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, operations research, finance, business, and economics.

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:
  • Solve problems involving essential mathematical computations;
  • Employ various computational software;
  • Use mathematical, probabilistic and statistical tools to evaluate future risk and contingent events;
  • Demonstrate a command of advanced mathematical topics.
