Program Summery
This course is a combination of mathematics and computer science to learn fundamental skills in both disciplines. Students use math as a tool in computing and use computer skills to solve mathematical problems. This course bridges the gap between theory and practice. Students learn skills to be successful in both industry and academia.
The study of computer science and mathematics is interrelated, as the field of computer science developed from mathematics. Frequently, computer science research involves collaboration with mathematics. The study of mathematics provides students with specific knowledge that they may build on, e.g. techniques in applied mathematics or statistical methods.
Employers understand that mathematics graduates can handle intellectually difficult problems and that this ability can be transferred to the work environment. Other skills include thinking logically and quantitatively, numeracy and analyzing information.
