Bachelor of Science - Sport Science and Health (DC202)

4-Year Bachelor's Degree

Program Summary

DCU Sports Science and Health graduates are passionate about sport. They imagine supporting an elite athlete to the heights of their career or helping to coach a team to be among the best in the world. Many other graduates make a massive impact in the community, helping people of all ages to enjoy and benefit from sport and exercise.

During this course, students will learn how to enhance health and human performance, and how to advocate for and champion a healthy, educated and active society. They’ll encounter a range of teaching methods, including practical sessions, and develop key skills you can use in any career, including creative and critical thinking.

Understand the possibilities

Students will study anatomy, behaviour change, coaching, nutrition, physiology, psychology, sociology and more, understanding these topics as they apply to people of all ages and in contexts from general health through to elite sport performance. To gain on-the-ground experience, students will do a six-month INTRA programme work placement in third year.

Sport Science and Health graduates could go on to work as performance analysts, performance coaches, laboratory technicians or health promotion officers. Alternatively, they could go on to a masters or professional doctorate in elite sport, health promotion, strength and conditioning, nutrition, psychology, physiology, physiotherapy or advanced entry medicine.
