What do GPS, 5G, Bluetooth and broadband have in common? They’re all part of the fast-changing world of wireless communications! As the communication of voice, video and data continues to converge worldwide, there is an increasing demand for employees who have sound theoretical knowledge and highly-specialized technical skills. In the NAIT Wireless Systems Engineering Technology program, students will develop the skills they’ll need to get started in a wireless systems career.

Hands-on, industry-relevant training

The Wireless Systems Engineering Technology program at NAIT provides the building blocks necessary to begin a career in the technical world of wireless systems.

The program is broken into 4 sections:

  1. Introductory and advanced communications theory - fundamental wireless technology and architecture, network fundamentals, signal spectrum, and communication techniques and theory
  2. Communications infrastructure and transport media - infrastructure of communications systems, methods of communication systems transmission, site planning, and building wiring
  3. Enterprise (business infrastructure) and industrial communications systems (industrial applications) - broadband wireless technologies, enterprise data communications systems, land mobile concepts, wireless communication systems for industrial applications and personal communication technologies
  4. Systems and business management and final research project – includes oral presentation, written communications, interpersonal and teamwork skills, analytical thinking and problem solving
