Program Summary

Students will develop the professional, technical and personal skills that are so highly-valued in contemporary 3D animators in this unique course where they can focus on Gaming or Filmic 3D Animation. They will discover how to design, render and model 3D characters, environments and worlds, using professional equipment, contemporary software, and processes used in industry. Students will learn 3D modelling, design, bio-mechanics, movement, rigging, surfacing, light and color theory, and the principles of animation. The final trimester of the Diploma is dedicated to students building a solid piece of 3D Animated work with expert guidance where they will get to create a professional portfolio piece, ready to showcase their talent.

At the completion of this course, students will be able to: 
  • Identify and apply appropriate, flexible and professional procedures, when undertaking digital effects, animation or media projects.
  • Demonstrate relevant industrial knowledge when developing professional quality digital effects, media or animations.
  • Apply problem solving techniques to manage issues during the production process.
  • Determine appropriate new and emerging technology suitable for use in digital effects, media or animation.
  • Complete digital effects, media or animation projects, adhering to set deliverables, timelines and expectations.
  • Display ethical and cultural awareness during the development of digital effects, media or animation content.
  • Investigate the impact and influence that digital media, society and culture have on the determination of media and messaging.
  • Communicate ideas professionally, utilizing appropriate tools, techniques and visual supports.
  • Utilize self-reflection, professional feedback, networking and personal development strategies to ensure continuous professional and personal growth.
