Extended Accelerator Program - Bachelor of Arts - Chemistry

4-Year Bachelor's Degree

Program Summary

The Extended Accelerator Program (EAP) is a three-semester program that includes an immersive English-learning experience. The program gives students firsthand practical and cultural understanding of the Gonzaga University campus and the Spokane area through its contextual curriculum. Upon successful completion of the program, students progress into the second year of their undergraduate education with a full year’s worth of academic credits.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry.  An ACS approved degree is recommended for students interested in pursuing a graduate degree in chemistry or biochemistry. The non-ACS Bachelor of Science Biochemistry option has a larger biology emphasis, and is better suited for those seeking a broad background in both biochemistry and molecular biology. The Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry is offered for those seeking a strong background in chemistry, but with less specialization than the Bachelor of Science program. A minor in Chemistry is also offered.

Students are encouraged to visit the Departmental website to learn more about careers in chemistry and biochemistry. For those interested in teaching chemistry at the secondary level, the Department suggests the Bachelor of Arts degree along with the teacher certification program in the School of Education.
