Program Summary

The Global Achievement Academy 2 (GAA2) is designed to give them a fast start at the University of Central Florida. The GAA2 is a balanced first-year program for international students with good English-language skills. It pairs immersive classes taught in English with just the right amount of support. As a student in the GAA2, they will get:

    • The right amount of support for their academic and English-speaking needs.
    • Earns students a minimum of 23 credits in their program.
    • Access to courses exclusively for international students.
    • English-language help with words they need to know for their classes.
    • A mix of classes with international and U.S. students.

    The Burnett School of Biomedical Science at University of Central Florida offers Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biomedical Sciences. This BS degree program meets all the admission requirements for medical/health professional schools and also prepares students for entry into the technical work force in the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry, as well as to support academic research endeavors in federally funded research programs.

    The undergraduate program offers courses in the biomedical sciences, including anatomy, molecular biology, cell biology, neurobiology, physiology, microbiology, and immunology. Students may enrich their education by participating in one of several student organizations or by working with faculty on directed research. The diverse research interests of the faculty in the department create a very rich environment for interdisciplinary research. The faculty has expertise in a wide range of biomedical science specialties, including microbiology, immunology, infectious disease, cardiovascular biology, neurobiology, molecular biology, molecular parasitology, biotechnology, cancer biology, and nanoscience. The program encourages and strongly supports participation of undergraduates in the exciting research being conducted by the faculty in cancer, cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, and infectious diseases.
