Program Summary

Students will became a teacher to inspire the love of learning and prepare all children for success. With a master’s degree in Elementary Education, learners will become an even better mentor and leader. This degree will put them on the path to becoming a master teacher, supervising teacher, subject matter teaching specialist, or department chairperson. Students will build on the work from their credential program and choose an area of further specialization that matches their interests.

The Multilingual and Multicultural option is for both bilingual teachers and teachers of English Language Learners. Students will learn to develop a comprehensive and balanced approach to teaching linguistically and culturally marginalized students in K-8 settings. They will study culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogies, language acquisition, teaching strategies for Emergent Bilinguals and English Learners, family and community assets, and multicultural arts education.
