Master of Arts - Music - Musicology

Master's Degree

Program Summary

The graduate programs in The Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach are designed for students who wish to further their careers in an environment that emphasizes engaged mentoring with faculty experts. The small program allows students the opportunity to work closely with a faculty member and get hands-on teaching experience and guidance. Current graduate students run performance ensembles, teach undergraduate classes, and earn directed research fellowships.

All BCCM faculty members are active in their respective disciplines and expect graduate students to participate at the same level as peers. As a result, each of the programs is highly competitive and they recruit students who have the talent, drive, and determination to work with them both as students and as future colleagues.

Recent alumni note that it is specifically because of this one-on-one mentoring that they were able to begin successful careers in music performance, education, and composition, or to continue their education in prestigious DMA and PhD programs.
