Master of Laws in Legal Practice (Bar and Professional Legal Studies) - Barrister Training Course with Professional Legal Studies

Master's Degree

Program Summary

The Barrister Training Course with Professional Legal Studies (Master’s) (BTC PLS (Master’s)) provides students with an alternative way to study for the Bar, with a whole foundation term at the start focusing on the fundamentals of litigation, which means that students have longer to prepare for the high stakes BSB assessments. This Barrister Training Course with Professional Legal Studies (Master’s) not only offers a foundation term to enable students to firmly settle into their studies, but also qualifies for postgraduate loan funding from Student Finance England.

During the foundation module students will focus on the fundamentals of litigation before moving onto its flagship Bar training course in the second and third term. Each element of the course is designed to boost students' employability and enhance their professional skills, with teaching delivered by the expert tutors who bring their expertise to their studies. Throughout the course students will build their core advocacy skills, learning and practising in small groups to develop their confidence and understand how they’ll apply these in practice from day one. The master’s element of the course allows students to create a professional piece of work which aligns with the practice area of the chambers they’ll be applying to for pupillage – further boosting their chances of securing pupillage in this highly competitive market.
