The Purdue University Northwest School Counseling program prepares students to provide individual and small group counseling, classroom guidance, college/career planning, as well as consultation to teachers, parents, families, and other professionals. Students in the program will experience a variety of opportunities to learn and practice skills in these areas.

As a Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs  accredited program, the Master of Science - Education - Mental Health Counseling . in School Counseling emphasizes the connection between school and community.  Built around the American School Counseling Association’s National Model for School Counseling programs, the program prepares students to work in a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and enhances the learning process for all students.  Students will learn how to work collaboratively with parents and other educators to promote student achievement and equitable access to opportunities and rigorous curriculum so that all are able to participate in the educational process. Upon completion of the program, they will be eligible for licensure as a school counselor.
