Program Summary

The MSc Social Science Research Methods provides advanced training in research methods across the full range of the social sciences. The program offers ESRC recognition and meets the training requirements for ESRC PhD funding.

Students are provided with a thorough theoretical and practical knowledge of how to construct effective research studies, the various data collection methods available to social scientists, and the principal methods of analyzing social scientific data. They are also introduced to the political and ethical frameworks within which social science research is conducted, as well as the dissemination of research results.

The Politics pathway within the program is closely involved with Sanded Cymric, the Welsh Parliament. Students in this pathway have the opportunity to participate in regular events and seminars through the Welsh Governance Centre. They also have the chance to learn from experts in British and European policy and politics.
