Master of Science - Social Science Research Methods (Social-Legal) (Law)

The MSc Social Science Research Methods provides advanced training in research methods across the social sciences. The program offers ESRC recognition and meets the training requirements for ESRC PhD funding.

Students will gain theoretical and practical knowledge on how to construct effective research studies, utilize various data collection methods, and analyze social scientific data. They will also learn about the political and ethical frameworks of social science research and the dissemination of research results.

The Socio-legal pathway within the program is supported by the School of Law and Politics, which has a strong reputation for outstanding research in legal studies. The pathway focuses on socio-legal studies and benefits from collaboration with the Centre for Law and Society and the Journal of Law and Society. Additionally, there is collaboration with the Department of Politics and International Relations and other schools within and outside the University.
