Program Summery

Douglas College's intensive, two-year Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Computer and Information Systems (Emerging Technology) program is a way for students to get started on a path to becoming a computer programmer, web technician, software engineer, information systems analyst, data administrator and more. In the first year, students learn the basics of computing and programming, and will become familiar with current development tools. In the second year, students hone their technical skills through one of the three streams such as Data Analytics, Emerging Technology or Cybersecurity. Through the specialization in Emerging Technology, students learn web scripting and programming, data algorithms, cloud infrastructure and mobile application development in order to be prepared for such career opportunities as computer and network operator, web technician, computer programmer, interactive media developer, software engineer, mobile software developer, and web designer and developer.

Students enrolled in this program may be eligible for a Co-operative Education Program. Co-operative Education involves alternating semesters of study with paid, full-time work in the perspective field. For information contact the Co-op Office. Students can also take part in the Career Boost program which prepares students for part-time paid or volunteer positions while studying. Students can participate in career-building workshops, one-on-one coaching sessions, career fairs, networking with employers, peer-led leadership meetings and more.
