Program Summary

Program Description

Queens College Global Student Success Program (GSSP) is a required first-year experience program designed by academic experts covering all aspects of students' new living and learning environment in the United States. As a Queens College student from day one, students will enjoy the added benefits of smaller classes where they will receive more personalized attention, and access to academic advisors and tutoring as well as opportunities to connect with other international and American students through a variety of social activities, student clubs and organizations.

Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies is an interdisciplinary field concerning the history, language, arts, and culture of the Greek people from Byzantine times to the present. Combining the humanities and the social sciences, it offers advanced coursework in four areas: Byzantine studies, modern Greek studies, modern Greek literature and culture, and Greek American studies. In the United States, the opportunity to earn an interdisciplinary BA in this field is unique to Queens College.

The bachelor’s degree offers excellent preparation for graduate work in Byzantine or modern Greek studies. In addition, it serves as an entrée to a career for students interested in the Greek experience and language. For example, students may go on to careers in education, community organization and development, social work, business, journalism, international affairs, or the arts.
