Established in 1986, California State University, San Bernardino Palm Desert Campus serves the Coachella Valley and Riverside county as a center for higher education. PDC, as the campus is known, is home to both undergraduate and graduate academic programs. Students can start at PDC as a freshman, or a transfer student, and can take classes during the day, in the evening or on weekends. The Palm Desert Campus has deep ties to the Coachella Valley community and serves as a center of activity and opportunity for students.

  • Facilities: The CSUSB Palm Desert Campus is located on a 166-acre site off the I-10 freeway. The first building constructed and occupied in 2002 was the Mary Stuart Rogers Gateway Building, funded by the Mary Stuart Rogers Foundation, the Berger Foundation, the City of Rancho Mirage and Florence Rigdon, a Rancho Mirage resident. Housing the university’s administrative offices, the building also has over 3,000 square feet of classroom space, faculty offices, 120 seat Oliphant Auditorium, book store, the Rancho Mirage Student Center, and distant learning laboratories.

18 out of 18 programs are eligible for Optional Practical Training.

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is temporary employment that is directly related to an F-1 student’s major area of study. Eligible students can apply to receive up to 12 months of OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies (pre-completion) and/or after completing their academic studies (post-completion).

If you have earned a degree in certain science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields, you may be eligible for a 24-month extension of your post-completion OPT employment authorization.

Cooperative education (or co-operative education) and internships are methods of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience. A cooperative education experience ("co-op"), provides academic credit for structured job experience. Co-ops are full-time, paid or unpaid positions. Internships may be full-time or part-time, paid or unpaid positions.
Even if you do NOT meet our minimum English requirement (IELTS or TOEFL), you still can get conditionally accepted in the program of your choice with the condition of completing our English program prior to starting your chosen program.

Students need to plan their accommodations well in advance of their arrival as all accommodation options fill up quickly, well before the start of the semester.

Off-Campus Accommodations

The local area has a variety of off-campus rental housing options including single homes, duplexes, apartments and rooms for rent. Students wishing to live off-campus need to research availability on their own and should arrive well before the start of term to do so.

Homestay

There are a wide variety of homestay options available, and our partners do their best to match students and hosts according to their interests and preferences. Homestay hosts include single people, young couples with children and pets, and older couples. All homestay accommodations have been inspected, and all adults in the home have completed a required criminal reference check.
