The Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP) allows students who have graduated from a participating Canadian post-secondary institution to gain valuable Canadian work experience.

The IRCC has published a preliminary list of programs that are eligible for the PGWPP. Based on our current knowledge, which is subject to change, these programs align with five field of study categories:

  • healthcare
  • science/technology/engineering/mathematics (STEM)
  • trade

    Cooperative education (or co-operative education) and internships are methods of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience. A cooperative education experience ("co-op"), provides academic credit for structured job experience. Co-ops are full-time, paid or unpaid positions. Internships may be full-time or part-time, paid or unpaid positions.

    A wide range of off-campus accommodation is available to UICC students, including private rentals and shared accommodation.

    For many students, the opportunity to stay with a Canadian family in the local community offers special appeal. Homestay students will have the chance to be a part of the family, taking part in family activities and celebrating special occasions.

    All families are within commuting distance of UICC. A homestay arrangement may include breakfast, lunch and dinner, and may be upgraded upon request to include special amenities such as internet access or a private bathroom.
