Overview

The University of Guelph is like no other university in Canada. Accommodation

Students need to plan their accommodations well in advance of their arrival as all accommodation options fill up quickly, well before the start of the semester.

On-Campus Residence Accommodations

On-Campus residence accommodations are provided per discretion by the school.

Off-Campus Accommodations

The local area has a variety of off-campus rental housing options including single homes, duplexes, apartments and rooms for rent. Students wishing to live off-campus need to research availability on their own and should arrive well before the start of term to do so.

Homestay

There are a wide variety of homestay options available, and our partners do their best to match students and hosts according to their interests and preferences. Homestay hosts include single people, young couples with children and pets, and older couples. All homestay accommodations have been inspected, and all adults in the home have completed a required criminal reference check.

Admission Requirements & Deadline

General Certificate of Education (GCE) Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 Advanced Level passes and 3 (I)GCSE (Ordinary Level) passes.
  • 2 Advanced Supplementary subsidiary (AS) Level courses may be substituted for 1 Advanced Level Course.
You are expected to present a minimum ‘A/B’ or 6/7 grade on (I)GCSE, AS and predicted Advanced Level examinations with a minimum of 5 unique subject areas. While consideration will be given to subject prerequisites at the (I)GCSE Level, you are encouraged to present requirements at the AS or Advanced Level. Please note that General paper is not considered an acceptable subject. Note: In one academic year students generally complete 5.0 credits. Please contact one of the following associations to request an official (replacement) certificate to be sent to Admission Services when final documents are requested.

Bangladesh

Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) with first division pass (60-100). (See also IB, GCE). Deadline

  • Application deadline for early consideration for students studying outside of Canada.
  • Application deadline for currently enrolled Ontario high school students to be considered for first round of offers.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

You will be required to present evidence of English Proficiency if: your primary or first language is not English, and
  • you have had less than four years of full-time secondary school or post-secondary study, demonstrating satisfactory academic progress, in an English-language school system.
The University reserves the right to deny admission to you if you do not demonstrate satisfactory facility in English, regardless of academic qualifications. Francophone Canadian citizens educated in Canada will not be required to meet the English Language Proficiency Requirement. You will also be considered as having met the English Proficiency requirement if you completed the International Baccalaureate diploma where English was the language of instruction.
