3-Year Bachelor's Degree

Program Summary

Program Description

The combined 4 year programme allows students with lower academic marks, or whose qualifications are not equivalent to British A Levels, to gain the necessary qualifications to proceed to undergraduate study.  After completing the Foundation Year, students will be eligible to progress to a number of University of Chester undergraduate programmes.

Students will be equipped with much more than business knowledge. Future employers are seeking skills that students will develop. This means students leave the University of Chester with experiences that should give them an edge at interview and in the workplace. The University of Chester develops outstanding business professionals so that students, like Freya, can progress to a great career.

In the first year, students will gain an understanding of the global business environment and develop fundamental management skills in marketing, people and organisations, finance and entrepreneurship.

In year two, students will translate this business knowledge into making key decisions and consider the different ways businesses operate around the world. Students will also start to shape their career path by choosing an aspect of business and a work placement that suits their personal interests and ambitions.

The final year is even more tailored towards giving students the competitive edge they need to enter the area of business they want. Students will carry out an original supervised research project into a subject they select and complete a module designed to maximise individual professional success.

Most of what students study will be anchored to today’s business world but supporting them to challenge assumptions and make relevant management decisions. By referring to top companies and emerging sectors such as cognitive science, financial innovation and data analytics, students will be well placed to focus and develop their career.
