Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Psychology (Sandwich) (C800)

3-Year Bachelor's Degree

Program Summary

The BSc (Hons) Psychology course explores adult and child psychology, the workings of the brain, social influences on relationships, and applications of psychology in the real world. This course can be taken in sandwich mode, which means learners will be required to gain 50 hours of relevant work experience during their undergraduate study.

As well as preparing students to pursue further training for careers in Psychology, this undergraduate degree helps them attain skills that prospective employers in a range of careers find attractive. Modules reflect the breadth of the discipline, from cognitive psychology and neuroscience to developmental psychology and social psychology. Students will be taught by research-active staff who are experts in their fields.

Being accredited by the British Psychological Society, this course includes a project. If students pass this and graduate with at least second-class honours, they'll be eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the BPS. It is the first step to become a Chartered Psychologist.

Many of the graduates pursue further training to become practitioner psychologists across a range of disciplines, including sport and exercise, forensic, educational, health, occupational, counselling and clinical psychology. The BSc (Hons) Psychology degree would also be useful for careers in teaching, media and advertising, market research, human resources, business, marketing and sales, and the social sciences.
