Program Summary

The Diploma of Media and Communication offers a range of choices in communications and journalism subjects. Areas of study include broadcast media, journalism, screen and sound studies, strategic communication, writing and further studies across a range of humanities disciplines.

Start to learn the processes and skills required for interviewing while being introduced to strategic communication and the mediums of screen and sound. Students will study subjects and skills that are relevant to all areas of specialisation offered at La Trobe University.

Bachelor of Arts, 

Students can choose from an incredible array of majors and minors. They will have access to around 50 majors and minors from humanities, social sciences, business, health and science, keeping there career options open. Pursue therepassion and  profession.

Shape there own future with this interdisciplinary degree. Students will choose one arts major, then explore there interests or build an essential skill when they choose secondary majors, minors and electives from across the university. Students will graduate with there primary major on the academic transcript, so future employers can recognise there expertise.

Create there own path. Want to major in sociology, with a second major in psychology, then take Chinese as an elective? Go for it. Or perhaps they would like to pair economics and English. Or crime, justice and legal studies with linguistics. Build there own future – we're here to help them achieve there dream. In there first year, they wioll explore there interests and passions. Try a language; or get a taste for history, English, politics or creative writing. In there second and third years, they will delve deeper while also choosing electives and minors that broaden there skills and knowledge. They may also choose to develop professional skillsets in areas like psychology, public health, marketing, science, sport management and more.
