Master’s International Direct

Master’s International Direct (MID) provides comprehensive support and services for students in the first term of select graduate programs. MID students are full degree-seeking students who are issued a Direct Entry I-20 and receive additional support and services in the first semester of their degree.

Campus and location

1. Corvallis Campus

With its diverse population and landscape, Corvallis is ranked as one of the safest, greenest and best college towns in the US. The city offers year-round cultural and outdoor activities so you’ll always find something to do. You can take quick weekend trips to the mountains or the coast. If you decide to stay in town, you’ll enjoy the local restaurants and boutique shopping. Downtown Corvallis is only a few blocks away from campus. It is a quaint, small town and an easy place to navigate. Almost all the roads have bicycle lanes. Don’t have a bike? There’s a free bus line that can take you anywhere in Corvallis. Many festivals or events are organized throughout the year, gathering students and the entire community. Some of the most popular events in town are the Wednesday and Saturday markets. You’ll enjoy walking along the river while tasting and buying local, fresh and organic products.

2. Cascades (Bend) Campus

Named for being close to the Cascades mountain range, the OSU-Cascades campus gives you the advantages of studying at a premier research university in a personalized, small-campus environment. It’s a great option for international students looking for a full university experience in a quieter setting. Learn about American culture in a vibrant small city, explore the great outdoors and pursue a degree with the excellent resources of Oregon State University. The OSU Office of International Admissions handles admissions for all undergraduate students, including for INTO OSU Pathway programs. For students who do not meet requirements for direct entry, Pathway programs are available. For students who need additional English language training before entering a Pathway program, Academic English will be offered followed by conditional admission to the Pathway. Please note: These entry requirements are for the 2021 academic year that starts in Fall 2020. English language score waivers for full admission to OSU:

  • SAT: evidence-based reading/writing score of 560+
  • ACTE (ACT English) – 21+
  • Two English composition courses (Writing 121+) with grades C- or better or one English composition and one Speech Communication course (Communication 111+) with grades C- or better, all from a US university.
  • IGCSE O or A Level English with a grade of C or better (provisional results not accepted)
  • IB Diploma: Language A – Language and Literature (HL) with a minimum score of 5

Extended Admission
Students who do not meet the entry requirements for the program to which they’re applying can petition for extended admission. After supplying the required documents, the student’s admission decision will be reviewed by the university’s Undergraduate Admissions Committee for an exception. Visit the admissions appeals aka extended admissions page for more information.

Please note that academic performance is not the sole criterion for admission to the university. The university may evaluate a person’s behavior and background to determine their ability to maintain the standards of academic and professional conduct expected at the university. An evaluation may take into consideration current behavior and performance as well as past experiences and actions. Simply qualifying for admission does not guarantee admission.

Applicants who are ineligible to re-enroll at any college or university that they attended within the last seven years for student conduct reasons will be automatically declined admission at OSU.  Applicants who are unable to re-enroll at a previous college or university for academic reasons will be considered for admission only if they meet OSU’s minimum academic requirements.

Do I qualify for a scholarship?

To be considered for this opportunity, submit your OSU application and once you have received your offer letter, ask your education counselor whether there is a scholarship available. All scholarships are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligibility

  • ISCS scholarships are for international undergraduate and graduate students who have been in their current program for at least one academic year and have demonstrated significant financial need as an international student at OSU
  • Priority given to students in the final stages of their programs to assist in degree completion

The INTO OSU Continued Success Scholarship helps students finance studies in a full OSU graduate or undergraduate program after completing a Pathway program. This scholarship is available to students who started their pathway before summer of 2019

Eligibility

  • Students who achieve 3.75 overall cumulative GPA during Pathway program will automatically qualify for $5,000 annual scholarship towards their undergraduate or graduate degree studies
  • Students who achieve 3.50-3.74 overall cumulative GPA during Pathway program will automatically qualify for $3,000 annual scholarship towards their undergraduate or graduate degree studies
  • Undergraduate studies: The scholarship is renewable for up to 3 years for a total maximum award potential of $15,000
  • Graduate studies: The scholarship is renewable for up to 2 years for a total maximum award potential of $10,000
  • Students who achieve overall cumulative GPA will automatically qualify for annual scholarship

INTO OSU reserves the right to make final decisions regarding scholarship eligibility.
